A native of Ellerbe, Mr. Rankin was born to the late Jesse Rankin and Rosa Hart Rankin on September 5, 1928. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Mr. Rankin worked for Homelite Chainsaw of Charlotte for years then retired as owner of Monroe Chainsaw in Monroe. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Agnes Rankin.
Mr. Rankin is survived by his sister, Nancy Smith of Rockingham; granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Crum of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 15 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte with Reverend Sarah Kalish officiating. Entombment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
