Edith was a faithful member of Mulberry Baptist Church for many years. She was an active member of her Sunday school class and gave out of her love for Jesus Christ to missions all over the world. She was inspired by the work of Jeff Andler ministries to spread the gospel of Christ and supported it faithfully along with supporting the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and Hope for Hungry Kids each year. She also supported and was a faithful member of the YMCA.
She remarried late in life to Willis E Kerley, who was a loving and faithful companion to her until his death in 2004.
Known to all her grandkids as Mamaw Massey she found her greatest mission work right her at home in her family. She was a praying woman and faithfully lived for Jesus Christ. Her powerful faith helped lead her husband, Sam, to Christ. She raised her children and influenced all her grandchildren in the faith.
For 10 years she lived at Wilora Lakes Lodge (currently called Brookdale) among so many close friends. As her health declined and she needed daily personal care she and some of the family decided on new living arrangements that came to be a blessing to all more recently. She lived in Denver with four generations of family under the same roof. Her daughter, Barbara Green, faithfully and lovingly cared for her every need, with the help of granddaughters and great-grand daughters. The late evening scripture reading and prayers around her bedside will be greatly missed. The spiritual heritage she leaves behind will inspire generations to come. Her love and faithfulness to family and friends will be a legacy that lives on in all who knew her.
