

Ed Shaw was born in Charlotte on June 3rd, 1953 and passed away Thursday June, 9th 2011.
Ed was a smart, talented and wonderful man that loved his family above all else. He was always successful at anything he tried to do. He had many passions in life, predominantly basketball, music and movies. He shared these passions with his two sons, Eddie who has developed into a wonderful musician and Griffin who is an outstanding basketball player. Ed took so much pride in his sons and their accomplishments and anyone that knew Ed was aware of his pride and love for his boys.
Ed was predeceased by his father, Rodney Stephens; step father, Harry P. Shaw III; and mother, Karolen Shaw.
He is survived by the love of his life, Nancy with whom he had been with for 38 years; his two sons, Eddie Shaw and Griffin Shaw; brothers, Harry P. Shaw IV “Butch” and wife Karen, Billy Shaw and wife Suzanne; brother-in-law, Kris Newton; sister-in-law, Meg Newton; seven nieces and nephews, Madison, HP and Zibby Shaw, Kirsten Issacs and Billie Sue Shaw, and Kayley and Amy Newton. He will be missed by them all and they will miss all the stories and jokes he always shared with them.
Ed was a native Charlottean. He was a graduate of Queens College and worked at Sharon Luggage and Gifts for 27 years, after that he worked in the mortgage industry and was currently employed with Red Ventures.
For all who knew Ed he was a great person with a generous heart. He loved to share his knowledge and passions with everyone. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever!
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Forest Hill Church, 7224 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 with the Dr. Robbi Fischer officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, National Headquarters, 6520 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309.
