Elizabeth "Betty" Anne Donovan

Betty was born in Boston, MA on June 17, 1932, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Donehue. She graduated from Emmanuel College, Boston in 1952. She and her husband Paul were married shortly after in April of 1953. She followed her husband around the world to various posts, having eight children in 72 years of marriage.

Betty is survived by her husband, Paul, and her children Stephen (Virginia), Janet (Pennsylvania), Barbara (New York), Ginger (Charlotte), John (Virginia), Donna (North Carolina) and Beth (Charlotte). Betty and Paul’s son Robert passed away shortly after birth in Korea. She also leaves behind two daughters-in-law, five sons-in-law, fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, .

The family has lived in Germany, Korea, California, Louisiana, Kansas, Virginia, and Oklahoma. Betty and Paul spent seventeen years in Florida as retirees, but full retirement was not to their liking as both Betty and Paul were highly active in their Catholic parish in Florida. They later settled in Charlotte to be close to family.

She will be sorely missed.

We will celebrate her life on Friday, May 30th, 2025 at 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church located at 4207 Shamrock Drive with a Celebration of Life reception to follow at Aldersgate, Epworth Building Club Room.
