Elizabeth Nelson Jones

Charlotte - Heaven welcomed a precious angel on May 8, 2014. Libby Jones, our amazing 3 1/2 year-old, changed the world in her short time with us on earth. She passed away peacefully in our loving arms surrounded by the love from which she was created. We will always remember her smiles, expressions, feisty spirit, and the love and joy she gave us every day of her life.

Thank you Libby for having loved us so much and for having allowed us to be your parents. Elizabeth Nelson Jones came into this world on July 9, 2010. She is the first child of Josh and Barb Jones and first grandchild of her very proud grandparents, Bubbie, Doc, Cici and Chief.

She is survived by her parents, Josh and Barb Jones; her brother, Will; maternal grandparents, Brian and Sue Wasserman; and paternal grandparents, Scott and Cheri Jones. She is also survived by her great-grandparents, Jim and Lanelle Benge and Faydelle Jones, of Texas; Aunt Laura Wasserman; Aunt Callie and Uncle Allen Tucker; cousin, Caroline Tucker; Uncle Clay Jones and his fiancee, Rebecca Bauer; and many great-aunts and uncles. She is predeceased by great-grandfather, Eugene Jones; great-grandmother, Jean Benge; great-grandparents Paul and Virginia Nelson; and great-grandparents, Bradford and Sophie Wasserman.

We want to thank all of the fabulous doctors, nurses and family life counselors at Hemby Children’s Hospital, and also those on the 6th and 11th floors of Levine Children’s Hospital, who worked tirelessly and passionately to support our family while we were in their care. And we especially want to thank our guardian angel, Kathleen Hutson, who has given of herself throughout this journey to support our family. Special thanks to our LibStrong team, Prayer Warriors, and Caring Bridge team who wore bracelets, attended fundraisers, provided food and attended to our daily needs, all the while continuing to BELIEVE with us in "Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust."

A service to celebrate Libby’s life will be held on Monday, May 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Church at Charlotte, 2500 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Interment will be private.
