Dear family members, dear colleagues, 
it was indeed and unexpected and very sad news. My colleagues from Croatia and myself deeply regret the loss of such a great person Elisabeth - Liz was. She was highly regarded and always welcome guest at LIDA conferences. We will remember her as an exceptionally cheerful, warm-hearted and kind person, a human been that one doesn't meet that often in life. She was a great ambassador of Croatia and her beauties and we are grateful for that and for the priviledge to know her.

We were colleagues part of the same community, and although we never collaborated directly, I have known you since the 2000s through your work and nods & smiles (at conferences like SIGIR).

When others were trying to find answers to questions, you tried to find questions (Ingersoll, Yilmazel and Liddy, 2007).

Liz was a great colleague and friend at many conferences during the years that we were discussing and working on what became the technology of search engines. Her contributions in those meetings were always insightful and brought together sometimes very different perspectives. I always looked forward to our encounters and have many memories of pleasant conversations and meals during conferences in various parts of the world, including a hike together on the Great Wall of China! I'll miss you Liz.

I met Liz at Overture and immediately loved her. She was so kind and such a gentle soul. I particularly want to send my condolences to her daughters. They visited often and made sure their mother was involved with the rest of the community. In addition to missing Liz, we miss seeing the smiling faces of her daughters who were an integral part of her life at Overture. God speed.

So very sorry for your loss. Liz Liddy was my first professor at SU’s School of Information.  I was petrified…out of school for years, 40 years old, never touched a computer.  She shared her journey and I was so inspired.  Today I ama public librarian with the Onondaga Library System.  I owe so much to Liz Liddy. My heart breaks for you, yet I find comfort in knowing she’s on her next wonderful journey.

Liz was a beloved mentor, ally, and resource from my first day working at the MOST in Syracuse, NY. Having her as a board member was like having a friend and a resource in the room. I knew I could go to her when I had a question or needed advice. As someone new to the world of STEM education, that meant a lot.

Liz Liddy inspired and supported me as I attended the MLIS program at Syracuse University and as I worked for her for a short time after I graduated. She was an innovative thinker, funny, strong,  a wonderful teacher and  a warm human being. I am so saddened to learn of her passing. My condolences to her brother, Jim.  Liz oversaw my internship for my master’s in Information Resources Management.  She was a wonderful inspiration to so many!

I became such close friends with Liz and her daughters. They are the most wonderful daughters that ever walked the face in the Earth and this was an incredible person. She lived here at Overture Providence with me in Charlotte and I miss her dearly. I would see her every day. I know she’s going to heaven.
