

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Liz dedicated her life to education, research, and service. A pioneering scholar in information science, she served as Dean of the School of Information Studies (iSchool) at Syracuse University, where she inspired generations of students and colleagues with her vision, leadership, and commitment to innovation.
Beyond her professional achievements, Liz was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her generosity, quick wit, and deep compassion for others. Her family and community were her greatest joys, and she created a legacy of kindness, resilience, and curiosity that will continue to guide all who knew her.
Liz is survived by her brothers Jim DuRoss (Cynthia DuRoss), Gil DuRoss (Maria Sabatini) & Frank DuRoss (Liz DuRoss), her children John Liddy (Jen Liddy), Suzanne Terry (Mike Terry) & Jennifer Liddy (Tony Sereno) and her four grandsons Cormac Terry, Nolan Terry, Owen Gette & Jack Liddy. She was preceded in death by her parents James & Margaret DuRoss and her sister Margaret “Peggy” Ashton.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at Saint Ann Catholic Church 3535 Park Road Charlotte NC 28209. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IT Girls @ Syracuse University.
A celebration of life will be hosted in Syracuse NY later this fall.
Liz’s life was a testament to the power of learning, leading, and loving deeply. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
