Elsa Perez Collins

Mrs. Collins, 81, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on September 26, 2010 at Levine and Dickson Hospice. She was born on March 25, 1929 in Havana, Cuba, a daughter of the late Manuel and Vitalia Perez.

Elsa worked for Mecklenburg County Social Services for 23 years before retiring; and was voted the best dressed employee several times during her career. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Forever will she be remembered as a loving mother and sister.

Survivors include her son, Richard Perez Baker of Charlotte, brother, Edwin M. Perez and wife, Lula Perez, cousin Edith Jay, all of Miami, FL; and niece, Letty Lancaster of Wilmington, NC.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment in the church columbarium will follow. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
