Elva Coote, 96, passed away on February 22, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born June 10, 1920 in Jamaica, West Indies. She moved to New York City and worked in the medical field until her retirement. She moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1994. She did volunteer work for the Salvation Army and Arosa House.
Elva is survived by two nieces, Beverly Parrish of Belmont, North Carolina and Janet Mc Carty (Max) of Newnan, Georgia; 2 great nieces, Amy Word (Mike) and family, Nellie, Mallorie and Mickie; Anne-Marie Lynch (Jason) and family, Alex and Cayden.
A visitation service will be held Sunday, February 26 at 1:30pm in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 2:00pm. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster, 8919 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210 and Park Road Baptist Church, 3900 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
