Mrs. DeVine, age 94, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016. Born February 17, 1922 in Etowah County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Robert Roy Daniel and Emma Gertrude Lowery Daniel. She attended Etowah High School. Mrs. DeVine, an accomplished seamstress, retired at the age of 81 from Ferncrest Fashions, Inc. in Monroe.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 4th at East Calvary Baptist Church. The service to celebrate the life of Emma Maurine Daniel DeVine will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Reverend Timothy Nichols officiating. Interment will be in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Gayle Johnson (Jimmy), Judy Carol Purser (Lloyd) and Donna Mae DeVine; niece like a daughter, Patsy Daniel Waldrop (J.D.); sister, Jean Shirley; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. DeVine was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil A. “Jack” DeVine, Jr.; and 5 siblings.
