

Etta Brasington Hobbs, age 77, of Cornelius, NC passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas NC from cancer and congestive heart failure. She fought bravely with courage, determination and dignity. She always asked how you were doing and never complained, she smiled to the very end with all three of her kids by her side!
Etta was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church of Cornelius, NC, but has not been active in the church due to short term memory loss from a stroke in 1997.
Etta worked for General Electric’s Lamp Division in Charlotte for 28 years and enjoyed her job very much. Etta was one of the grand prize winners of the Government Sales Activity in 1972 and 1973. She loved living on Lake Norman, where her neighbors of more than 40 plus years were family. Etta enjoyed the simple things in life like watching her grandchildren play, and sharing a sweet smile and a kind word to all those she met.
Etta was born on August 31, 1938 in Dallas, NC to the late Joe and Jane Brasington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, John W. Hobbs. Those left to cherish a life-time of memories are her three children; Joe Kruger of Little River, SC, Kris Huffstetler and husband Bobby of Gastonia, NC; Rick Kruger of Mooresville, NC and three grandchildren who lit up her eyes, Hannah Kruger, Davis Huffstetler and Lanah Kruger. Also surviving are her sisters, Jo Felts of Cornelius and Becky Bruton of Greer, SC.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00am,Tuesday October 6, 2015 in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family of Etta extends special thanks to Dr. Aubrey Calhoun of Mooresville Internal Medicine, Dr. Daniel Koehler of Sanger Heart and Vascular, the staff of Robin Johnson House and most especially, Dr. Michael Case and at home Hospice nurse, Mary West.
The family of Etta Hobbs request. that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Robin Johnson House, 5005 Shepard's Way Drive, Dallas, NC 28034 in the name of their loved one Etta Hobbs.
