

Eufleen Britt Hayes age 93, died peacefully at Stanley Total Living Center, in Stanley NC on January 13. She is survived by her sons, Tony Hayes of Langley, WA. And Dickie Hayes of Mt. Holly NC. Her grandchildren, Tyler and Kayla Hayes of Mt. Holly Chad and Staci Hayes of Atlanta, Christopher Hayes of San Francisco, Jeremy Hayes of Santa Rosa CA, and her great grandchild Arden Hayes of San Francisco. She is also survived by countless loving nephews and nieces across the Southeast. Special recognition must be given to her son Dickie for his continual devotion and caring for her in her declining years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Wade Hayes, and her son Michael Lynn Hayes.
Mrs Hayes was a energetic woman whose working years included retail sales at Belks Department Store and managing a men's store in Charlotte. Her simple pleasures included gardening and cooking. Her biscuits were renown and her ability to make gravy from anything amazed everyone. Nothing pleased her more than cooking a meal for her family and friends. Family met everything to her.
She was born in Green Sea SC in 1922, one of ten children. Her parents were Nim Rod Britt and Mary Lillian Harrelson of Tabor City NC. She met her husband Norman Hayes in 1946 and they were married in Tabor City, NC. In 1947. They moved to Charlotte later that year. She remained continuously employed in retail sales working first at Efirds Dept Store in Charlotte and transitioned to Belks when Efirds was sold. She retired in 1987
A visitation will be precede the graveside service at McEwens Funeral Home 5716 Monroe Rd. Charlotte, NC 28212 from 1:00 to 2:30 on January 18th 2015. A graveside service will take place at 2:30 at Sharon Memorial Park next to the funeral home.
