

Evangeline “Ginger” McConnel McClure died and went to be with our Lord on January 29, 2012 at her home in Charlotte. She was born in Payette, Idaho on January 16, 1933, to the late Paul I. and Geraldene W. McConnel. She moved to Charlotte, NC with her father and sister in 1952, joined First United Methodist Church in 1953, and married Kermit C. McClure there on October 1st, 1954.
Ginger was a devoted member of the United Methodist Women and served as chairperson, president, and treasurer. She taught elementary and adult Sunday School classes, facilitated Disciple Bible study groups I through IV, served as secretary for several church committees, and sang in the choir for over 40 years. She and her husband have served neighbors in need through the “Room In The Inn” and other ministries through their local church.
Ginger worked in material accounting at Southern Bell Telephone, office accounting at Chapman-Harkey, Cato Stores, Southland Rebuilders, and Southland Packaging, and finished her career with over 17 years in patient accounting at Carolinas Medical Center.
Ginger is survived by her husband, Kermit C. McClure, her son and daughter-in-law Charles and Nancy McClure of Charlotte; her son James McClure of Charlotte; her daughter and son-in-law AnnaLuree and Douglas Wright of Concord; her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Stephanie McClure of Peachland, NC; her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Janu M. Kirtley of Kuna, Idaho.
The family will share in a private graveside service. Friends are invited to share in a memorial service February 11th, 3:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall before the service from 1:30 p.m. Parking is available off West 9th Street in the basement parking deck of the 525 Building at the corner of West 9th and North Tryon streets.
Arrangements provided through Forest Lawn West funeral home. Rev. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley will oversee funeral and memorial services. Memorial gifts may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region (1420 E 7th St, 28204), or First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and church Outreach.
