She was born in Greenwood SC, February 28, 1930. She was the daughter of Dewitt
Rutledge Jones and Claudia Martin Jones.
She attended Greenwood high school and Furman University. She spoke so
fondly of those college days at Furman.
Evelyn was married to Dutch Agnew for 57 years. She was the wife of a
soldier and never forgot the cost paid and the freedoms won during WW2. She was a
patriot. She is survived by her three children Doug Agnew and wife Cindy, Carol Caldwell and husband Steve and Scott Agnew and wife Kim. Her legacy consists of eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
She loved baseball and cheered for Doug and Scott through all their years of
playing ball. She was so proud of her daughter's accomplishments in nursing
and those talents were so needed and appreciated the last few years of
Evelyn's life.
She was a skilled bridge player and a prolific reader. The Holy Bible was
always beside her night table and she loved the scriptures. Teaching her
children to cherish reading was one of her greatest achievements. She was
known to be seen wearing Clemson orange quite often.
