Evelyn Saulman Freeman

Evelyn Saulman Freeman passed away peacefully December 12, 2025 at Lake Wylie Senior Living. Born January 2, 1931, in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rob Saulman and Donnie Mace Saulman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Ted Saulman; sister, Carolyn Reep; son, Trent Freeman and her wonderful husband of 53 years, Wade Freeman.

She is survived by her son, Sheldon Freeman (Randee); grandson Kurry Freeman (Alex); granddaughters, Christina Freeman and Melissa Kennedy (Andrew); great-granddaughters, Madison Muchler, Taylor Muchler and Layla Shay Freeman; great-grandson, Andy Kennedy; great, great-grandson, Jackson Gulley; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and a special friend, her beautician, Bonita Allison.

Evelyn graduated from Morganton High School in 1948 and Kings Business College, Charlotte, NC. She was a private secretary for many years for Dr. B.E. Morris. She worked as an executive secretary for several large companies completing her career as a secretary in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for over 20 years.

She was a charter member of Mulberry Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for 40 plus years. She has been a loyal participant in Woodlawn Baptist for over 20 years where she was a member of the Care Sunday School class.

A celebration of life will be Tuesday, December 16 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Pastors John Ray and Michael Cummings will be officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of her service at 12:00pm.
