

FLOYD MACK FERGUSON, JR. Floyd Mack Ferguson, Jr., age 81, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Born in Charlotte, NC, on June 26, 1929, Floyd was the son of the late Floyd Mack Ferguson, Sr., and Grace Wright Ferguson. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Annie (Ann) Cabe Ferguson; daughter, Jennifer Ferguson Medlin and her husband, Keith Medlin of Cary, NC; two grandchildren, Laura Hope and Rachel Caroline Medlin, of Cary; sisters, June F. Hunsucker Blackwell and Ruth F. Surratt and husband James Surratt, of Charlotte; brother, the Rev. Billy L. Ferguson and wife Frances W. Ferguson, of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters-in-law, Brittie C. Duncan of Spruce Pine, NC, Jean C. Turpin Daughenbaugh and husband Bill Daughenbaugh of Monroe, MI, and Shirley C. Maxwell Spence and husband O.K. Spence of Weddington; brothers-in-law, Charles Cabe and Glenn Cabe and wife Ollie Cabe, of Sylva, NC; and 18 nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Nettie F. Hurd and Dorothy F. Rorie.
Floyd graduated in 1947 from Central High School and later served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He retired in 2004, after 47 years with Authorized Appliance Servicenter, where he was General Manager. A lifelong member of Midwood Baptist Church (formerly Ninth Avenue Baptist Church), Floyd served as a deacon, trustee, chairman of the ushers, and member of the Banking and Finance Committees, and was active in local missions projects. He was an avid gardener, who eagerly shared his bounty with friends and neighbors and faithfully cared for the Marlwood Acres entrance for more than 16 years. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Floyd’s greatest joys were serving Christ and spending time with loved ones. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Midwood Baptist Church, with Dr. Garry Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205.
