

Mr. Halcin, 89, of Charlotte, NC, passed away March 16, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center.
He was born November 12, 1922 in St. Paul, MN, a son of Florian Halcin and Lillian Jago Halcin. Mr. Halcin served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the University City YMCA, a certified Gemologist where he was a member of the Charlotte Gem and Mineral Club and a Master Fastener. Mr. Halcin was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
The Halcin family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from the sanctuary of St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Joshua Voitus, celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
Mr. Halcin is survived by his two daughters: Kathy Mason of Charlotte, NC and Nancy Willis and husband, Steve of Elizabethtown, NC; daughter-in-law, Kathy Halcin of Elsworth, MI; a brother, Ed Halcin of MN; four grandchildren: Cody Halcin of Elsworth, MI; Cory Mason and wife, Amy; Sara Siekierski and husband, John and John Mason and wife, Amanda all of Ohio and two great grandchildren: Brady and Aubrey Mason. Mr. Halcin was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Halcin in 1998 and a son, Patrick Halcin in 2011 and a sister, Irene Sheets.
