

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey and Elizabeth, both of Charlotte, NC and his former spouse, Nancy, of Waxhaw, NC.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. Elijah Leroy Stack, Dora Belle Lawrence, Henry Haywood King and Julia Francis Hood; parents Norman Leroy Stack and Margaret Etta King and brother Norman L. Stack, Jr (Jim).
Frank was born in Greensboro, NC on April 14, 1936, at the hospital owned and operated by his great aunt Cora Lawrence Anthony, twin sister of his grandmother Dora Belle Lawrence Stack.
Frank spent his infancy on a 100-acre farm owned by Haywood on Creek Ridge Road in Greensboro NC. Frank was named for Haywood's brother Frank who lived in St. Louis, MO.
The family later moved to Charlotte, NC. Norman, Sr. joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCC) as Education Adviser and an instructor. He served at Mars Hill, Gastonia, and Cherryville.
Frank attended Dilworth Elementary School, Alexander Graham Junior HS, and Myers Park HS.
After Frank finished high school the family moved to University Park, MD. He began at the University of Maryland College Park in the engineering program, but ended up graduating with a degree in business in 1964. He completed a Masters in Administration for Information Technology from George Washington University in 1975.
He married Nancy L. Benjamin on June 7, 1968, they remained wed until 2017.
During his time in Maryland, Frank was an active member of Riverdale Presbyterian Church in University Park, MD, he acted in several one act plays held there as part of the Side Door Coffeehouse. He was also a member of Toastmasters.
He spent his entire career working for the federal government. He started in the Dept. Of Agriculture, but spent most of his years working for GSA (U.S. General Services Administration) He retired in 1996 while working as a Management Analyst.
The family had moved to Spotsylvania, VA in 1988. He had a great love of history and upon his retirement Frank worked as a docent at Montpelier, home of President James Madison.
Frank loved his family and after his beloved Uncle Thomas (Thomas Nathan King) suffered a mild stroke, Frank acted as his caregiver for several years until Thomas had to be moved to a full care facility.
Frank moved back to Charlotte, NC in 2005. He joined the Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church and was active in many alumni groups in the area.
He was a kind-hearted and good-natured person. He loved art, loved attending plays, loved history and was always learning. He will be missed terribly.
Frank loved animals and will have many furry friends waiting to rejoin him at the Rainbow Bridge. Daisy, Rosebud and Max will be especially awaiting his arrival.
He was a man of faith and we should rejoice that all is well with his soul. I'm hopeful that Frank is communing with his fellow believers and visiting with family, friends, and pets.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2020 with visitation at 1:30 pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC 28212. Service to follow at 2:30pm.
