Dear Family
I worked with Garr for many years in Los Angeles. Never have I met a more beautiful, calm and honest human being.
Garr was the light of our office and truly our “Zen Buddha” I loved him.
I have thought about him often over the years. Only wonderful memories.
I’m devastated to have heard the news today.
Chantal shared it with me and my heart is heavy.
Sweet Garr. My condolences to all of you.

Barbara, Tricia and Cara,

I'm so very saddened to learn of Garr's passing.  As you know we were housemates in LA for more than 4 years.  

I find it impossible to think of Garr without a smile and laugh.  

Though we had not caught up in years, I still tell stories about him - my favorites being when he secretly lived at NBC studios Burbank for 9 days while between apartments, or when he snuck onto the red carpet posing as a reporter at the Golden Globes. Garr breathed kindness and humor into every situation... and happily tapped out lots of drumming around our apartment.

I really admired Garr, and I will continue to celebrate him.

Dear Barbara, Tricia and Cara
I have just became aware of Garr’s passing and was shocked by the news   Our families have very sadly lost connection since your move from Buffalo, but I often think about all of you when driving by your street or passing Williamsville South. It  makes me smile when I remember  driving to pick up Garr there after school with my shower wet hair wrapped in a towel. These are wonderful memories and it’s not too late to create new ones. We have very good friends living not too far from you  and would very much like to connect on one of our visits there. Until then, Kevin and I send to you our heartfelt sympathies for your deep loss.

Dear Barbara, Trisha, and Cara,
I was really in shock when Uncle Stuart called me  about Garr’s passing.  Although our side of the family has been disconnected since we lost Alan,  I always asked for news when speaking with Stuart or Gibby.  His loss is one we are all feeling.

Garr was truly a special man with amazing talents and a wonderful personality. I heard of the special bond he had with his nieces and nephews, and his loss must be especially difficult for them.   Their memories of him will last forever.

We are unable to join you today but our thoughts and prayers are with you.  His loss will never be diminished but the memories he left behind will be priceless.

I remember when Garr was a baby my mom (Fay Cheskin) babysat Garr on Tuesday nights when Uncle Alan played softball, they lived on Kings Highway then. Anyways, I always looked forward to going with my mom and “helping”, I was a whole 10 years old..  Then they moved to Culpepper and had a pool, my mom would pack a picnic lunch for everyone and we would have such fun being together.  I remember my dad (Gibby Cheskin) always going for Garr’s ear, it was a Gibby thing, and Garr not only would let him, but gave the biggest smile knowing how much he was making my dad happy.  Our Disney trip was so special back in 2004,  some great memories were made that trip and they will never be forgotten.  To this day I don’t know which Cheskin guy could out eat the others, they all seem to keep up with another and be so proud of it!   Garr and I were both born in the month of March and I will greatly miss our birthday wishes we exchanged each year. Garr will always and forever be remembered as a wonderful cousin and such a great guy! XO


I went to Mill Middle and Williamsville South with Garr.  I sat next to him in a lot classes (Cheskin, Chamberlin).   He was always so kind to me and to everyone.   I will always remember his big smile.   

I have many happy memories as cousins with Garr and  being together as the Cheskin Family. From all the fun times as kids (Monarch Drive and Culpepper) to still caring about our cousins as we got older, although spread out around the country.
One time having dinner with Garr in California, at the Cheesecake Factory, he was so proud that he could still finish that big meatloaf dinner. That was a Cheskin thing…..the Food! 
I’ll always remember those fun times, the laughs, and jokes. Always and Forever. OX. 

I will always remember my Bills and Sabres conversations with  Garr when he was in California and calling him to let him know the Sabres were going into Overtime..  Garr was a great tennis player and I enjoyed going to watch him play  when he was in high school, I was so proud of him then and I always will be.  Love Uncle Gibby…
