Gerald Gibson Bridges

Gerald G. Bridges, age 89 formerly of Harrisburg, NC passed away January 11, 2013 in Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Sunday, January 20th in Forest Lawn West Funeral Home Chapel, Reverend John Harrill officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 prior to the service.

Mr. Bridges was born in Lexington, Ga. July 6, 1923 son of the late Frank Bartow and Pearl Stevens Bridges. He was a former member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and presently a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He graduated from Meson Academy in Lexington, Ga. In 1940 and Blanton Business College in Asheville, NC in 1949, served in the US Army during WW II, was a member of the American Legion Post #12 in Harrisburg, NC,. Mr. Bridges was in sales and retired from the Gillette Company, Paper Mate Division and later from Forms and Supply.

Surviving are a son, Phillip Morrison (Pat) of West Jefferson, NC, daughter, Sharlotte Schilling (Chris) of Evans, Ga. and grandchildren, Jami, Randi, Kati, Caroline, and Laura. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Barnes Bridges. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28215.
