Ms. Johnson, 76, of Charlotte passed from Earth to Glory on Monday, April 20, 2015. She was born in Mineral Springs, NC on January 4, 1939, to the late Julian and Sarah Coan.
Glenda was a lifetime lover of beach music and shag dancing, and she was inducted into the Shaggers Hall of Fame in 1992.
Glenda is survived by her son Jay Johnson and his wife Cynthia of Charlotte; her daughter Jil Johnson Hicks and husband Tim Hicks of Maiden, NC; her sister Judy Coan of Charlotte. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jordan, Sonny, Jaye Rachel, and Marley Johnson and Brittan Hicks.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Thursday, April 23, 2015 at McEwen Pineville Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm prior to service.
