Glenn Allen Nanney, aged 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Charlotte, NC, on October 3, 2024. He was born September 6, 1934, in Concord, NC, to Hillrey and Mary Nanney and grew up in Charlotte with his older brother, Ray.
He ran cross-country at UNC Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in business. Except for a short stint in New York City as a Wall Street stockbroker, he spent most of his life in North Carolina working at companies such as Esso, Delph Hardware, and Pelton & Crane. He married Nancy Delores Moore and had two children, Glenn Jr. and Ken. After his divorce, he met Barbara Graham who became his longtime partner for over 40 years. Glenn enjoyed traveling around the US and Europe and watching the stock market. He was outgoing and never met a stranger. Last month, he was surrounded by his family to celebrate his 90th birthday. He is survived by his longtime partner, Barbara; children, Glenn Jr. (wife, Michelle) and Ken (wife, Lynn); and grandchildren, Ellie (husband, Dhruv), Matt, and Kevin.
A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Red Cross, Charlotte Metro Chapter, 2425 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28203, 704-376-1661, www.redcross.org.
