Gloria Bennett McClintock

Gloria was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to James Edward Bennett and Elizabeth Markham Bennett. She grew up with her sister and brother and attended Newell through high school. Gloria married Latimer McClintock in 1949.

Gloria spent her career working in insurance at various agencies around Charlotte. She was very active professionally and served as president of the North Carolina Insurance Association of Insurance Women. She was also very active with the Charlotte Camellia Society. Gloria put a lot of effort into the annual camellia show and enjoyed seeing all the beautiful blooms that members brought in to share.

She was very active in her neighborhood, fostering better ties among her neighbors and organizing events so everyone could get together. Gloria was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. She was married to Latimer McClintock for 43 years until he died in 1993.

Gloria is preceded in death by her sister, Edith Kirk; brother, Jim Bennett; and husband Latimer McClintock. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, February 8th at Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte, NC at 12:15 pm, and a celebration of life at First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC at 2:00 pm.
