Guy M. Brooks, jack-of-all-trades extraordinaire, died at home on May 8, 2016. He was born in Kannapolis on October 25, 1941, to Moody and Christine Daniels Brooks, graduated A.L. Brown, attended N.C. State, and served in the U.S. Air Force. Guy was an accomplished electronics technician at Rockwell, Process Systems and Reliance Electric. He was also a customer service rep at Observer Transportation and retired from Belk Store Services. He was a lapsed Baptist who loved his family, his garden, animals (except squirrels), his Ford Mustang and truck, Schlitz in a bottle, NASCAR, the beach and the mountains equally, Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, Law & Order reruns, Christmas, Halloween and cooking breakfast on the weekend. He was an inveterate inventor and professional jury-rigger. He was a registered Republican, probably just to antagonize his wife. Guy was predeceased by his parents, sister Cinda, and daughter Michelle Linker. Missing him are his very spoiled wife, Linda, daughter Jennifer, stepdaughter Courtenay (Philip) Constable, grandchildren Stephanie Watts, Bradley Rattz, Liza Constable, Macy Sullivan, Keith Rattz, Ashley Rattz & Jason Rattz, great-grandson Ricky Goodman, Jr., furry companions Sandy and Stinky, and many dear friends. Memorials are welcome to the Humane Society, Doctors without Borders, or Hillary Clinton's campaign (he'd love this one!). The family will receive friends at a reception on Saturday, May 14, at Forest Lawn West from 2-4pm. In honor of Guy, dress is casual, please. He wouldn't have it any other way.
Arrangements under the direction of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, Charlotte, NC.
