Harold Austin Coggins

He was born on December 23, 1919 in Charlotte, NC to Charles and Nelly Austin Coggins. Throughout his life he enjoyed many outdoor activities such as golfing, gardening and yard work. He retired from Colonial Stores Bakery where he was a supervisor after 25 years of service. He was a devoted member of Back Creek Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. A charter + 40 years member of Newell Chapter # 344 Order of the Eastern Star, where he served as a Past Patron seven times. He was a devoted member of Newell Masonic Lodge #739 Newell since December 1968. He liked to coach candidates through the Masonic Degrees.

Mr. Coggins is survived by his daughter, Patricia ‘Pat’ Coggins of Atlanta, GA; his youngest sister, Betty Ritch of Troy, NC and his younger brother, Jerry Coggins and sister-in-law, Pat Coggins of Myrtle Beach, SC.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Alice Coggins, five brothers and six sisters.

The celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Back Creek ARP 1812 Back Creek Church Rd with The Reverend Wayne Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service time. Interment will follow the service at Sharon Memorial Park. Members of Newell Masonic Lodge #739 will serve as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers.
