Harry William Hart

Harry Hart, 89, of York, SC, formerly of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all that knew him.

He was born in New York, New York on May 11, 1921 to Harry and Jeanette Martin Hart. He was an avid NY Mets fan and later became a US Army WW II Veteran in where he fought in the european theatre. After the war he had a career in the shipping industry and later retired in the Charlotte area.

Survivors include his 2 sons Robert and Frank Hart of Oceanside, New York; 1 daughter Mary Kennedy and her husband Terry of York, SC; 2 grandchildren Kieron and Kristina Kennedy of York, SC; Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Mrs. Loretta Reith Hart in 2008 and 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, October 11, 2010 at All Saints Catholic Church, 530 Hwy 274, Lake Wylie, SC, 29710 with Father Ed McDevitt Celebrant. Burial will precede the Memorial Service on Monday, October the 11th at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC at 11:00 am. Visitation for Mr. Hart will be from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Sunday, October 10, 2010 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
