

Harry Gordon Ray, age 91, died on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Charlotte, NC. Gordon was born at home in Garwood, NJ in 1934, and lived there for more than 60 years before retiring to Jensen Beach, FL for 25 years, and then moving to Charlotte, NC four years ago.
Gordon was a mechanic for large construction equipment and was a career-long member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He participated in many volunteer community roles in Garwood, including Jaycees, Boy Scouts, and he was a proud 35-year member of the Garwood Fire Department. Gordon was drafted into the US Army in 1956 and served peacetime duty in South Dakota for several years and then served in the US Army Reserves in NJ until honorably discharged in 1962.
Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Shirley (née Williams), in 1954, and enjoyed 69 happy years of marriage, until her death in 2024. He is survived by daughter Diane Kincaid (Michael) of Fort Mill, SC; daughter Susan Ray (John Fish) of Chester Springs, PA; son Darren Ray (Pamela) of Leesburg, VA; ten grandchildren, Amanda Ray Insetta (Michael), Brian Ray (Julee), Nicole Kincaid (Matthew Howatch), Eric Kincaid (Christine), Ryan Schiano (Victoria), Evan Deakyne, Sierra Fish (Bradley Strickler), Tristan Fish, Jack Ray, and Samuel Ray; and seven great-grandchildren, Madison Insetta, Henry Insetta, Blake Insetta, Shelby Ray, Cameron Howatch, Elaina Howatch, and Cole Salerno. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Lucille (née Kreie) and Harry Ray. He was also predeceased by his son, Michael Ray.
