We have missed she and Mr Benfield since we moved from next door. Our love and prayers go out to the family! She was a very special lady.

My love and prayers go out to the family.Hazel will truly be missed by me.She became my second mother when I lost my mother.She ate with a group of her friends including me once a month.Hazel kept us laughing all the time.I will meet you in Heaven one day Hazel.Save me a hug.

I first met Hazel Outen Benfield during 1960 when she and her family came to visit her parents, William Leroy and Ruth Smith Outen and her brother all of whom lived in Plant City, Florida. Her brother, Frank Eugene "Gene" Outen and I had just begun dating and he invited me home to meet his sister. I remember how beautiful, funny, smart and gracious she was. Later Frank ("Gene") told me of receiving a letter from Hazel in which she'd said that she really like me! Believe me, the feeling was mutual. Frank and I were wed in June of 1962 and were 
married for 50+ years until his death in 2012. Our daughter also passed away in October of 2015. Hazel and her family were so supportive and loving during these dark times. We always shared a loving bond even though we were miles apart. Now, my heart is breaking for the loss of this beautiful lady. She will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who loved her.

Hazel was the sweetest and most friendly women. She always made me feel at home whenever I was there.  She was not only mother to my best friend Fay, but she was my friend too.
She will be greatly missed.

Hazel has always been a 2nd mother to me.  As far back as I can remember she would get me on the weekends until I  got to old for it. Some of my best childhood memories were spent with her those weekends.  We stayed close my whole life. She was my rock when I lost my own mother who was her best friend even before I was born. My children have special memories of times spent with Hazel and Albert. Just like any mother would do, she would scold me if she thought what I was doing was wrong.  She stayed on me until I started to church with her. I will miss her tremendously. I hate to think what my life would have been like or what kind of person I would be without her influence throughout my life. I know she is in heaven because she was already an angel on earth. Rest in peace my dear beloved Mama Hazel. I love you.

My favorite memory of Hazel was going to yard sales with her and Albert and Vonnie Nichols..We always had the best time..Hazel was a wonderful lady..I was blessed to know her..My thoughts and prayers are with the family..She will be missed..RIP in peace..

I met Hazel and Albert in 1993 when Vonnie and I first met. I was scared to death of Albert  (for no reason), but Hazel was just the kindest soul. She accepted me without hesitation or judgement. She treated me like one of the the family. She was always a constant, and always had a ear to listen if there was a problem. She stayed on Vonnie and me to come to church with Her and Brenda and Faye and when we finally did we found our home. We always sat together at church as family. I started playing guitar for church because it made her happy. When I stopped playing for a year, she would tell me you should be up there. Finally I did start again because of her. I remember the pride in her eyes the first time I taught a combined Sunday School class. I had been doing it for about a year at that time with no problem, but I was so nervous that day cause I wanted to do good in front of her. When my mother passed away she adopted me. She told me once I was the son she never had to make me feel better. I always tried to have her a flower for Mothers Day. She was proud of that.I know she loved me and I loved her and told her that every Sunday and hugged her neck and kissed her cheek. I'll miss that. Hazel was the kindest most gentle woman I've ever had the pleasure to have known. That's a fact! I know I will see her again one day. Of that I have no doubt. I love you Momma Hazel and I will miss you dearly.
