
Mrs. Wheeler, 86, of Matthews passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at Plantation Estates Medical Unit.
She was born May 28, 1923 in Dover, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Frank Neff and Erma Neff. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Wheeler.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church where she was on the Christian Education Committee and taught Sunday school. She was giving of her time and volunteered with countless charities such as Meals on Wheels, Loaves and Fishes, was a Carolina Medical Center Volunteer, and as a docent with the Mint Museum. She was an avid reader, loved music, the beach, swimming and animals, especially horses and dogs. She also was active in the Mecklenburg Hounds, Garden Club, Investment Club, and Bridge Club. Helen was known for her extraordinary Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. Her love and devotion for her family will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.
Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Wheeler Davis and husband John; grandsons, Ian Wheeler Davis and wife Katy, and Addison Reid Davis and wife Candice; great grandson, Evan Bitler Davis; niece, Jeannie Fogleman; grandniece, Amy Puthoff; and a brother, Tom Neff.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2010 at Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Drive, Matthews, NC 28105.
The family would like to thank the staff of Willowbrook Court at Plantation Estates for their outstanding care and support, and the Hart Northeast Hospice Team for their dedication and compassion.
