Hjuaih Buonya, also known as Joy, age 66, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. She was born on January 1, 1958, in Vietnam. She met her husband while he was serving in the military supporting the U.S. troops, during the Vietnam War. She helped as a caring aide for the military and refugee camps. She arrived in the United States in 1986 and resided in Charlotte, North Carolina.
She enjoyed cooking, going to church, and spending her time with family and her friends in the Montagnard community.
Hjuaih Buonya is survived by her husband of 40 years, Yjuen Eban; her sons, Jon (See Lee) Buonya, Nger (Oana) Buonya, and Martin (Brooke) Eban; and her granddaughter, Madayln Buonya.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2024, at Forrest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28208. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at United Montagnard Christian Church, 1009 Little Rock Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28214. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
