Born on May 21, 1946, in Germany, Ilse was the beloved daughter of Arvids Lusis and Maija Jauntevs Lusis, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married for 38 devoted years to her husband, Andris Ankurs, who passed away in 2013. She is survived by her brother Erik Ankurs and his family.
Ilse built a fulfilling career as an Accounting Clerk at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, where her intelligence and dedication were deeply valued. She was a woman of remarkable independence and spirit—known for her love of travel, especially to France, a country she visited often and cherished deeply.
A lifelong reader and lover of classic cinema, Ilse found joy in the pages of a good book and the comfort of old movies and television shows. Her uniqueness, strength, and quiet elegance left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A memorial service to honor Ilse’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 1:30 PM in the Mausoleum Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, North Carolina.
She will be remembered with love and admiration by friends, colleagues, and all whose lives she touched.
