She was born on December 21, 1925 to Connie and Verne Beckham in Panama City, Fl. They soon relocated to Warrington, Florida where she was raised and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1943.
While training to be an Army nurse she met our beloved dad, Jim Christian, who was a naval aviator at that time. They married in the chapel at Pensacola Naval Air Station in 1945. She devoted her life to him and was a loving mother to Rob Christian (Patty), Reid Christian (Mary) and Beverly Whiteside (Don).
Mother was a sweet, kind and caring person whose family always came first. She was also a strong woman who faced every challenge in life with much courage and grace. Genie was passionate about gardening, birds and art. She took up painting late in life and became a beautiful water colorist.
But her greatest passion in life was her family. Her purpose and desire was to create a close and loving family. Mother was a woman of strong faith and taught us the importance of family, hard work and doing what was right. She will forever be an inspiration and we will dearly miss her.
She leaves behind five grandchildren Candace Christian (Bill), Jimmy Christian (Jennifer), Olivia Gray (Drew), Christian Drum (Sara), Phoebe Christian (Todd), thirteen great grandchildren and dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 at 2pm.
