Charlotte-James A. Green, 72, passed away February 20, 2013.
Mr. Green was born September 28, 1940 in Charlotte, NC where he resided until death. He attended Harding High School and graduated in 1958. He was a veteran and served in the US Navy. He operated Green’s Lunch on 4th Street with his Mother Mary Green. He also worked at Folger Buick and retired as a DMV license examiner. He is a member of Crosspoint Worship Center. James ministered to troubled boys for twenty-six years at Stonewall Jackson Training School in Concord, North Carolina.
He was the son of the late Robert L. Green, Sr. and Mary Wallace Green. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Green, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Patricia Kirksey Green of Charlotte, NC, his sister Carolyn Green Clontz of Gastonia, NC, Uncle
Thomas McNeil Wallace of Monroe, NC; nephew, Darren M. Green and wife Regina Green of Charlotte, NC, niece Caroline Green Benton of Charlotte, NC and great nieces.
Jimmy was a wonderful husband, brother and a great friend to many. He is gone, to be with the Lord who he loved and worshiped.
Special thanks to all the friends that helped care for Jimmy and for the wonderful care he received at Presbyterian Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 with Pastor Theron Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cross Point Worship Center, 9116 University Blvd, Charlotte NC 28256.
