Jim had a strong passion for music. Earlier in life, Jim discovered the trumpet while attending middle school in Kansas City which he continued throughout his academic years. While attending Texas West University he was able to play with some of the best in Jazz and Blues such as Doc Severson, B. B. King and many others. Also while attending college, Jim worked in radio and TV communications by being a cameraman and assisting with the radio station. Jim also started his career as a paramedic in which he continued throughout his life.
After Jim served in the military he moved to Charlotte, NC where he remained for the rest of his life. He continued to be a paramedic for a few more years but then started to work in the transportation industry for GnP Trucking in 1998. He also met the love of his life Christine Dise in 2009. They were together until her passing in 2019.
Later in life Jim met Cathy Simmons, his friend and companion that reintroduced him to the local music scene. At this time Jim was able to reconnect with local musicians to perform at various venues.
Jim never met a stranger. Whether it was sitting on the dock waiting to get freight unloaded or at a club gig he always found someone to talk to.
