

On 3/14/22, James John Tully, Sr., better known as Jim, passed away surrounded in love by family. Born September 15, 1948, Jim was 73 years old.
Jim was the rock of his family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a former Fire Chief of the New Hampton Fire Department in NY and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked a long career at Batesville Casket Company, and upon retiring, he started Diamond Athletic Landscaping.
Jim never met a stranger and loved to talk about his life experiences and his grandchildren. He had a love of giving to the community, being a long-time coach of youth athletics and President of Olde Providence Recreation Association. Jim loved his family, Christmas, and Disney often combining a trip to Disney with his family at Christmas for the perfect trifecta.
Jim is survived by his wife, Connie Tully; his children, James Tully, Jr. (Jim) and wife Kristi of Cumming, GA, Jodi Hearn and husband Jonathan, Amy Jamison and husband Jon, and Marty Peterson, all of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, James Tully, III (Trey), Price Jamison, Jamie Hearn, Charlie Jamison, Charlotte Tully, and Laurel Jamison; his sisters, Tina Bonelli and husband Joe of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and Naomi Carter and husband Larry of Lyndhurst, NJ. He was preceded in death by parents, Gloria and Francis Tully and sister, Jean Tully.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 26th, at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church, 8801 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. The family will receive friends following the service in Johnston Hall at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church.
