Jan Hansen

Jan R. Hansen, 59, of Charlotte died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 8th, 2012. Born in Evanston, Illinois on November 23, 1952. He attended St. Viator’s High School, and graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Business Administration. He relocated to Charlotte in 1990 with the Union Special Corporation as an automated sewing technician. He worked for Brinks Home Security as a service technician, and most recently worked in office administration for Guardian Home Protection Agency. Jan loved watching his son Bret play baseball, he always held out hope for a Chicago Cubs win, and he loved ECU Pirate football.

Jan is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betsey Arnd Hansen; son Bret R. Hansen and his fiancé Megan Smith of Clover, South Carolina; son Jonathan W. Hansen of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother Eric Hansen and wife Peggy of Plano, Texas; brother Mark Hansen and his fiancé Patti of Carol Stream, Illinois. Jan was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild in June, Jackson Robert Hansen. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Hansen; mother Cornelia Hansen; and brother Christopher Hansen.

Services will be held at 11:00 am at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte NC 28210 on Saturday, May 12th. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. and a reception will follow the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service. Online condolences may be left at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com.
