A resident of Charlotte since 1948, Jane was born November 28, 1931 in Winston Salem, NC to Charles J. and Lucy B. May. Following graduation from Central High School in 1950, she furthered her education at UNG-Greensboro receiving a BSSA in 1954. Jane then enjoyed a thirty-nine year career with E. I. du Pont de Nemours as an executive secretary in the Textile Fibers Department.
Jane was a long-time member of St. Johns Baptist Church and the church’s Joy Class. She will be remembered by all she knew for her thoughtfulness in sending birthday cards, as well as get well and sympathy cards.
Aunt Jane is survived by her sister, Catharine M. Dawson (John); her niece, Jane D. Cowan (Butch); and her nephew, Gordon Dawson (Catherine).
A service to celebrate the life of Jane B. May will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17th at St. Johns Baptist Church. Her family will receive friends following the service. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
