

Born February 2, 1941 in Waynesboro, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Dwight E. and Mildred Elizabeth Root. She was married to the late James Edward Taylor for 39 years. Jane graduated from Waynesboro High School and then received her nursing degree in Roanoke. After actively serving as a nurse for several years, she stayed home to raise her three boys. After her boys were grown, she had a career in real estate and retail.
Jane absolutely adored her family and her seven grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Jimbo Taylor (Mary) of Pinehurst, NC, John Taylor (Amy) of Charlotte, NC and Matthew Taylor (Heather), also of Charlotte, NC; and seven beloved grandchildren, James, Sophia and Joshua, John and Kate, and Savannah and Madelyn Taylor.
Jane is also survived by her cousin, Nancy Carey (Henry), their daughter Susan Lendermon (Chuck) and their sons Evan and Collin all of Staunton, VA; brother-in-law, Gary Taylor of Greenville, SC; niece, Holly Taylor of Vienna, VA; and her devoted friend and caregiver, Marissa Lovrencsius of Charlotte, NC.
She was a longtime member of Carmel Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, Noon at Nan’s (her Bible study group), and the Toastmasters. Her faith was central to her life, and she faithfully served her church in various capacities for many years. This faith sustained her after her husband’s death and during her illness.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at the graveside at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1st at Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Grottoes, Virginia. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, VA.
A memorial service in honor of Jane’s life will be held on Thursday, July 6th at 3:00 p.m. at Carmel Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC
