Janet Moldenhauer, also know to us as Mom, Petite, Nama, Grandma, Granny, and Aunt Dee. After a beautiful life filled with adventures, family, and friends, we bid mom goodbye on April 7, 2026 at the age of 95. She was born in 1930 and grew up in Rennerdale, PA as the oldest of three children. Her path took her to secretarial school leading to a lifelong career as as secretary/executive assistant working in secondary and higher education. At a time when many of her contemporaries stayed home, she was a working mom of three, ensuring that her daughters were equipped for success.
Mom was a smart, funny, resilient, classy and very resourceful woman who loved reading, walking, dancing, and definitely not cooking. She was always up for travel, with trips taking her to the Albuquerque balloon festival, historical adventures and family reunions in the Outer Banks, trips to the North Carolina and Florida coasts, and more than the occasional cruise. Janet also took trips abroad with friends and family to Germany, France, Croatia, and a river cruise from Paris to Normandy. Her innate curiosity had her attending lectures and researching places so she could plan her next trips. She spent her time before and during retirement meeting people and absorbing their stories, creating many lifelong friendships with all kinds of people no matter where she went. Since COVID she has relished a weekly virtual meeting with her beloved Zoom sisters.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Ruth as well as her siblings Bob and Roberta. She is also predeceased by her husband, Howard. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Wickersham (Roy) of Clinton, WI, Nancy of Nashville, TN, Ruth (Mark) of Charlotte NC, and honorary daughter, Margaret of Homewood IL, and her grandchildren Alison (Drew), Sam; Jesse (Kate), Tali (James), Chris (Colleen), and Emily.
Mom's has been a life well lived with work, travel, parties, humor, kindness, a pinch of stubborn, and more than a dash of the bawdy. We bid a loving farewell to a beautiful lady.
