Joann Causby Lawing

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joann Lawing, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at the age of 90. She was the daughter of Russell and Mildred Causby of Belmont NC.

Joann was married to Jack L. Lawing for 35 years. Together they built a life & family on the west side of Charlotte dating back to the 1950's. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy E. Lawing. She was a loving mother to her four children—Cathy E. Lawing, Jamie L. Lawing and his spouse Tam Andrus-Lawing, Chris A. Lawing and his spouse Velvet Lawing, and Edward D. Lawing—and a proud grandmother to Halley J. McAuliffe and her spouse Trey McAuliffe, Caleb Lawing, Adam Lawing, and her great-grandchildren Addison, Makayla and Connor McAuliffe whom she adored.

Joann dedicated her career to working as an Executive Secretary for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Her hard work, kindness, and attention to detail left a lasting impression on all those she worked with. All of her children worked at Goodyear when growing up.

A passionate Carolina Panthers fan, Joann could always be found cheering on her favorite team, traveling to games with her son Edward and even attending Superbowl 38. Joann sat in many a bleacher cheering her kids in many sports.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joann's love, warmth, and dedication to her family and friends will remain in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse for NC Relief.

The Lawing family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Tuesday, the 29th of October, 2024 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Service. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM and burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
