Joe Michael Helms passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023. Joe was born November 19, 1937 to Charles Cleveland Helms and Ella Katherine Roberts Helms in Charlotte, NC. Joe graduated from Central High School and Wake Forest University. After working many years in banking and owning a small business, Joe ventured into commercial real estate. He also worked at Atrium Health as a Patient Liaison. Joe was involved in high school and college football as a referee.
Joe enjoyed volunteering at West Charlotte High School and Guilford College, the schools his daughters attended. He also enjoyed tennis, running, and horseback riding.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, David Cummings; and his great grandson, Brayer Logue. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Helms; his daughters, Katherine Helms Cummings and Mary Helms; granddaughters McKinsey Cummings (Aaron) and Mary Michael Logue (Kyle); grandsons Andrew and Dillon Noble; great grandchildren Ella, Chase, Parker, and Gray and stepson Jeff Cress (Sharon).
