JoEllen Sinclair Arant

Jo Ellen Sinclair Arant, 89, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 23, 1935, in Marshville, North Carolina, Jo Ellen lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and devotion to those she cherished.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Debra and Leonard Barrier of Raleigh, NC; Jimmy R. Horne, Jr. of Peachland, NC; and Donna and Michael Caudle of Charlotte, NC. She was a proud grandmother to Amber and Caleb Flint of Winston-Salem, NC; Daniel Horne of Peachland, NC; Elise and Cameron Phillips, and Sean and Kristin Goans of New Salem, NC; Blake Caudle of Savannah, GA; and Michael Caudle of Indian Trail, NC. Her joy multiplied with her great-grandchildren: Paityn Goans, Rilee Phillips, Hudson Goans, and Jameson Phillips.

Jo Ellen found joy in life’s simple pleasures — reading, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She retired from Belk’s, where she worked as a Sales Associate in the Fragrance Department. There, she delighted in meeting and connecting with countless people, many of whom became dear friends over the years.

Her family and friends will remember her as a gentle soul with a warm smile, a generous heart, and an unwavering love for those around her.

A private graveside service for the family will be held on October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC, followed by a luncheon at 12:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
