

Mr. John Walter Cain, Jr., 73, of Matthews, entered into rest on March 16, 2015 at his residence. He was born on July 25, 1941 in Gaston County, the son of the late John Walter Cain, Sr. and Ileese Moton Cain, and was married to Jane Whitener Cain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Shi Cain and by a brother, Douglas Franklin Moton. John retired from Alltel as Vice President of Operations for Marshville, Wadesboro and Norwood after 28 years of Service. He was the Past Master of the Joppa Lodge Number 530 in Charlotte; Member of the Oasis Temple Jester Court 109, Past President of the Red Fez Shrine Club; member of the Matthews Mens Club and was a member of Rotary. Mr. Cain also served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Red Fez Shrine Club on Lake Wylie.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Whitener Cain; by a daughter, Deborah Cain Webb of Wilmington; by a son, John Walter Cain, III, of Matthews; by a step-daughter, Elizabeth Hill of Dallas, NC; and by a stepson, Frederic Leon McClure II of Columbia, SC. He is survived by grandchildren: John and Hunter Webb; Joshua, Marie, and Victoria Hill; David, Zachary and Jacob McClure; and by Lauren Green and Ashley Dillon.
Friends are cordially invited to a service celebrating John’s life in the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park on Saturday March 28, 2015 at two o’clock in the afternoon with the Rev. Dr. Robert Jack officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshment with the family will be observed following the Memorial Service
