John Andrew Columbus Jr., 68, passed away Friday evening December 7, 2018 at CMC-Main in Charlotte, N.C.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on August 15, 1950, he was the son of the late John Andrew Columbus Sr. and Myrtle Duncan Columbus.
With a career in broadcast radio that spanned over 30 years, John retired at age 62. He was the former owner of a radio chain housed out of Jackson, T.N. in early stages of his career and worked as a Market Manager for three large radio chains towards the end of his career. Highlights of his career include being named twice in the Top 10 Market Managers in Radio Ink Magazine while working for Cumulus Broadcasting.
John is survived by his wife, Deborah Fortner Columbus; two daughters, Ashley and Kelli Columbus; a granddaughter, Lila Caldwell; two sisters, Lisa Beeler and her husband Bill, Jill Alter and her husband Wayne and a brother, Craig Columbus and his wife Carly along with eight nieces and nephews and their children.
