He was born June 25, 1937 in Mecklenburg County, NC to James D. Prevatt and Anna L. Wagner. John is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Prevatt. He loved beach music, N. Myrtle Beach, Carolina Basketball & Nascar.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Prevatt; children, Kim Rogers of Winston-Salem, NC; Tommy Prevatt (Olivia) of Leland, NC; Janice Garrett (Ken) of Simpsonville, SC; Christopher Costello (Melissa) of Xenia, OH; Nicole Costello of Charlotte, NC; 9 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home with funeral service immediately following at 12:00 pm.
