Roseann and family I think of you and wonder how you are keeping. You and Jon have been in my prayers all along. I know he is with us as I at least smile when I think of him. God Bless and keep all of you.

Sharon - so very sorry about your dad's passing. Though I never had the privilige of meeting him, I can tell from the beautiful photo album posted here that he was a man full of energy, zest and love for life and his friends and family - no wonder you are the positive life force that you are! The picture of his Mother's Day porch dedication is one of the most touching things I've ever seen...what a gift to love and be loved like that. Praying for your family's comfort - having lost my parents in recent years I know all too well the gaping hole that's left, but I know you will continue to embrace life all the more now, in his honor. Your Y family adores and loves you!

I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with Jon for the last several years and want his family to know that he was the best example of a man full of understanding and compassion for those he worked with that I have ever seen. He was my boss, my mentor and a true friend. I loved him and will miss him greatly. His was a life of service to others and he was a positive force in the funeral profession. 

He also had a great love for his children, grandkids and his beloved Ro! I was blessed to be able to see this and I always knew that I was in the presence of a great man. Jon you will always be thought of by so many and I will miss hearing you say "Thank you my son".

I was sad to hear the news of Jon's death. As pastor of Little Church on the Lane we were neighbors who shared parking and a common concern for people. We helped each other. I enjoyed Jon's warmth and his eagerness to help us as a church . Jon was a professional and saw to it that things were done right.  He was so happy to be back in Charlotte serving as manager. I will miss his smile and the times we had talking together about life and family. He will be missed by many and has left a legacy to remember.

When I think about Jon's influence on my life, many things come to mind  but two come to the forefront.

First of all, Jon had a gift for making you feel special and important.  Someone said I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.  He was a fiercely loyal friend whose encouragement brought out the best in those he knew.   He was truly The Godfather over his circle of friends  a title he loved and deserved!

Second, I was always touched by the love he and Roseann shared.  I worked with them on a daily basis and witnessed the newlywed devotion they still shared after fifty years of marriage.  They were a perfect match!  I will miss his deep voice calling RO and then laughing with some sort of joke.

Jon, your influence will definitely continue to live in our hearts.  You have set a fine example.  We are all better people for your having passed our way.

Sincere sympathy to Rosann and family.  Remember the days babysitting Sharon and Jonny.  Also Jon was so very nice to Steve and I when we lost our son in 1972.  He took care of all the arrangements for us.  I was always eternally grateful.  Now Jon and Steve can have coffee in Heaven and share memories.  Rest in Peace Jon.

Roseann, I will do my very best to be there Saturday evening, but will probably not be able to attend the service. Both you and Jon always brightened my day whenever I saw you guys at Lowes. He was truly a special man, and Godsend- a man that went out of his way to take time and appreciate you in any capacity that you encountered him. He will be missed. David Clark.

Dear Roseanne, As Kevin already said, we were crying all the way through the funeral last Monday after we heard the news and I still am catching myself with tearing eyes. Jon will always have a very special place in my heart. Not only was he a kind and integer person but he truly cared. I loved seeing him, getting a hug and look into his sparkling, smiling  eyes. He was especially caring during the time I was sick; never leaving out an encounter without asking how I was doing? I will truly miss Jon, his words of wisdom and his infectious smile.

My funeral experience began 28 years ago at Harry and Bryant Company.  I can truly say Jon was one of the best funeral directors to ever grace the halls of 500 Providence.

I am so sorry for our loss. Sandra and I were at a funeral Monday and cried the whole service thinking about Jon. I was honored to know and work with Jon and will miss him badly.  He was a man of immense dignity, humbleness, and peace.  I learned much from him and truly valued our talks. Sigh.  I was reading through the obits as you know we all do, and actually, looking for another was stunned to see this one.  So sad.  Wonderful fellow.  I remember a new employee of ours mentioned he was working with Jon whom he hadn't yet met.  Jon introduced himself and asked "are you new here?"  The new man on board answered yes.  Jon's response, and I have mentioned this wonderful reply so many times since was " well, we all were at one time, you'll be just fine."

Roseanne, I am so sorry to hear about Jon.  He was a huge asset to our company for many years and to this day we have families ask about the "Jon" with no h. I will always remember Jon for his honesty and wonderful sense of humor.  His insight on many things was always spot on. Roseanee and family, what a great loss of a great man. I became instant friends with Jon when he (along with Roseanne) cared from the heart for our family at the loss of my brother in 07. I felt like I had known Jon for years. His spirit of giving and caring is unequaled. I enjoyed helping you both find the home that Jon loved so much and made even better with his incredible skills and work ethic. Through this relationship i have been blessed to have met your family and see the effect your loving relationship has had on them. Great folks indeed. Roseanne, I am so sorry to hear of Jon's passing.  He was a great mentor during my time working in Charlotte and I enjoyed his words of wisdom to me.  I remember when he told me his prognosis in his office.  He showed a resilient spirit and faced news that most would stress over with joy and faith.  He looked at the positives of seeing all of the love and support of family and colleagues.  I will forever remember him and the personal level of service he shared with me.  God bless you all.

Roseanne, I learned of Jon's passing from my father, Doug Knight, to whom Jon was a remarkable friend and colleague. I will forever be grateful to Jon for the concern, compassion and professionalism he provided at my mother's funeral. He asked that we put it in his hands and no detail was overlooked. We are deeply sorry for your loss and offer to you our heartfelt condolences.
