

Charlotte – Jon Emerett Ostrander, of Mint Hill, passed away on August 2, 2015 at Levine-Dickson Hospice at Southminster after a battle with lung cancer; he was 69. Jon was born in Callicoon, NY, a son of the late Francis and Charlotte Lillian Donovan Ostrander.
He was a graduate of Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, NY, where he served as class president. Jon was proud to be the manager of Harry & Bryant Co., Charlotte’s oldest and finest funeral home. He served in this capacity for many years until his death. Respected by his staff and area clergy, his legacy will live on.
Jon is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Roseann Beal Ostrander; his daughter, Sharon Welnhofer and husband David of Indian Land, SC; sons, Jon Francis Ostrander and girlfriend Shari Coburn of Mocksville and Scott Ostrander and fiancée Susan Francovig of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Alex and Lila Welnhofer and Kennedy Ostrander; step-grandson, Nate Welnhofer; sister, Shirley Ostrander of Honesdale, PA; brother-in-law, Stanley Beal of Clarks Summit, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Robert Ostrander; and sisters, Kathy Ostrander and Charlotte Schellberg.
The service to honor Jon will be held at 9:00 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Harry & Bryant’s “Chapel in the Oaks”, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with Reverend R. Alton Cadenhead and Rabbi Murray Ezring officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Levine Cancer Institute for their care, especially Dr. Anthony Crimaldi. Words cannot express how grateful we are for his extraordinary care and compassion.
