Mrs. Murphy, age 77, of Charlotte passed away Monday, September 3, 2012.
She was born February 11, 1935 in Charlotte, North Carolina the daughter of Pauline Taylor Funderburk and the late Doctor Lumuel Funderburk.
Joyce was a longtime member of Midwood Baptist Church and had a deep love of all God’s creatures, especially cats. She enjoyed reading and cherished spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons, Jeff Murphy and wife Lisa and Gregg Murphy and wife Renee; grandsons, Josh Murphy and Jacob Murphy; mother, Pauline Funderburk; sister, Betty King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Thursday, September 6, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Home, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
A graveside service will directly follow in Sharon Memorial Park with the Doctor Reverend Garry Baldwin officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203.
