Joyce, 86, went home to be with her Lord on May 12, 2013. She was a wonderful mother that committed her life to doing the best for her family. Joyce was loved by everyone she came into contact with and will be dearly missed. She was married to Shelton "Steve" Stephens for more than 48 years before his passing in 1992. A native Charlottean, Mrs. Stephens was born October 3, 1926, and graduated from Harding High School.
In addition to her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her sons, Danny and Wayne; daughter, Gloria Segars and grandson, Michael Segars.
Surviving are her daughter Linda Deaton and husband, Glenn of Wesley Chapel, NC; son, Gary Stephens and wife, Laura of Charlotte, NC and her grandchildren, Joy Griffin, Angela Harding and Stefanie Stephens
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery officiated by lifelong family friend, Rody Carland.
