Julie was born in Charlotte, NC, to Linda Thornton Tarlton (later Cagle) and Joseph Lackey Tarlton on November 4, 1960. As a young adult Julie lived and worked at Surfside Beach until she suffered a head injury as a result of a car accident in November of 1987. Subsequently, Julie lived under the thorough and loving care of her mother, Linda.
Julie had lived a very independent life until God, in His infinite love and wisdom, saw fit to draw her to Himself by radically transforming her life. Her life could easily have ended on the day of her accident, but God gifted Julie and her family with thirty additional years of life together. God transformed Julie’s spirit to one full of thankfulness for any and all kindnesses shown to her. She beautifully reflected the heart of Christ as she interacted with others: humbled by their eagerness to spend time with her and overjoyed at the privilege of their company.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Lackey Tarlton. She is survived by her mother, Linda Cagle of Belmont, NC, 2 sisters and 1 brother and their spouses respectively: Kim and Paul Johnson of York, SC; Lindy and Robert Freeman of Charlotte, NC; Danny and Misty Tarlton of Belmont, NC.
We will always remember Julie fondly and thank God for the life He graciously allowed us to share with her on earth and the worshipful life we will share with her and all His children in eternity.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 8919 Park Road, Suite 1000, Charlotte, NC 28210, hpcor.org. Their abundant graciousness enabled Julie’s final hours with her family to become a treasured memory.
