

Mr. Sturman was drafted into the Army during World War II and served in Europe. Upon his return, Julius attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a degree in civil engineering. His career was spent designing and maintaining bridges for the Baltimore Ohio Railroad and then the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad.
Mr. Sturman is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; daughter, Jane Burton and husband Chuck; son, Mark; and sister, Margaret Diehl.
He was a man of faith, a devoted family man, and he loved to travel. Upon his retirement he and Betty moved to Deerfield Beach, FL, where they enjoyed the beach and also traveled extensively, including 40 cruises. Julius was an early riser, tireless worker, enjoyed working in his yard and listening to classical music. He was a member of the Syria Shrine Temple and was a Freemason for 65 years.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, July 15th in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service. Entombment with Military Honors will be held in the Mausoleum at Sharon Memorial Park following the service.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
