Charlotte - Kathryn Brem Beatty Todd passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice, and with her daughter by her side, on October 25, 2018. Aside from her undaunted spirit and fun-loving personality everyone close to Kathryn knew she was a devoted mother, loving daughter and beloved sister.
A native Charlottean, Kathryn made her debut into this world on March 13, 1945 as the daughter of the late Robert Rowe Beatty Jr. and Sarah Fisher Beatty; granddaughter of Robert Rowe Beatty Sr. and Helen Hamilton Brem Beatty, all of Charlotte, NC, and Louis Archibald Fisher and Fay Polk Fisher of Concord, NC.
Kathryn graduated from Myers Park High School in 1963 as a proud Mustang and went on to attend Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and Kings College in Charlotte, NC. During her career she worked at First Union National Bank and Xerox Corporation where she retired after over 25 years.
Truly beautiful inside and out, Kathryn was a debutante at the North Carolina 38th Debutante Ball and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a lifelong member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church and active member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed being a key organizer for the Myers Park Class of 1963 reunions and monthly luncheons with former Xerox coworkers, who always held a special place in her heart. An avid reader and traveler, Kathryn was a true Southern lady with an uncanny love of New York City. Whether having a cocktail at the Algonquin Hotel or going to her favorite store, Henri Bendel, she never missed a chance to visit the Big Apple.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter Mackenzie Beatty of Charlotte, NC; brother Robert Rowe Beatty, III of Geneva, FL; nieces Beth Beatty, Brooke Beatty Metz and Brym Beatty Anderson (Jon) all of Oviedo, FL. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Brenda Maynard Beatty.
A graveside service to celebrate Kathryn’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 10th at Elmwood Cemetery.
